Big sound from a small box

I initially bought the radio because of its aesthetics. The silver and white make an attractive combination. When it arrived I immediately noted the solid construction of the cabinet and the pleasing weight. When I tuned to a station the sound filled the room. The dials move smoothly and pleasingly. Overall a high quality, beautiful radio well worth the price paid.

    Big price, little item

I am very disappointed in the quality of the audio - which was the main reason for the purchase. Even with the antenna up and in a capture range, the audio fades in and out. Hard to keep my favorite stations in tune.

    Hi there-

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear about this issue with the tuner on your Model One. Before anything else, I think we should try the tuning dial exercise.

My first instinct whenever I hear about tuning troubles is to try the tuning dial exercise. Sometimes in our units with analog tuners, the lubricant inside the tuning dial can settle, which will affect the accuracy and stability of the tuning dial. A quick fix for this that some of our customers have found useful is listed below:

    • Unplug the unit and turn it upside down for about four hours. This will help the lubricant settle in the opposite direction that it usually does.
    • Turn the unit right side up, plug it in and turn it on.
    • With the volume all the way down, and in FM or AM mode, slowly turn the tuning dial from one side to the other, over and over for about five minutes.

I can't promise this will fix the issues you're having, but I have hope that maybe it will help. If this process doesn't help, please reach out to our support team at info@tivoliaudio.com, and we'll see how best to remedy the situation. Thanks again!

    Stylish and Sounds Good

This little tabletop radio was a replacement for a compact radio CD player that died after 20 years, kind of unexpectedly and mysteriously. In some ways, it is a downgrade, because it is simply an AM/FM radio. No CD and I decided not to pay extra for the Bluetooth, since I rarely used the receiver for anything but radio. But this is a major improvement because the other devise was too complicated (too many buttons) and tuning was a pain and the reception was often off or required a lot of adjustment with cumbersome antennas. This radio comes with a single old-fashioned metal extending antenna that my wife had assumed was now obsolete (but I assured her is not) and there is a handy little light that turns green when you tune in sufficiently to get a solid reception. It is all that I desired and was looking for. I now have a great-sounding radio for my public radio station and it sounds good when they stop talking and they play music as well.
