To celebrate Tivoli Audio’s new office and direct in-market operations opening in Japan, we wanted to bring something special to Tivoli Audio listeners worldwide in addition to the launch of our new Japanese website.
In late 2023 while our team was visiting Tokyo for the launch of the Songbook and the Songbook Max, we became familiar with the works of TOKYO ACRYL. Originally founded in 1970 as a company that specialized in engraving, over time TOKYO ACRYL began concentrating on manufacturing acrylic materials. In 2015, their lineup had expanded to include more decorative handicrafts such as jewelry, accessories, and artwork.
Today, TOKYO ACRYL's production focuses on unique acrylic sheets. Using their established coloring know-how, they’re able to produce their own LP-size acrylic panels with a wide variety of products in small lots, creating unique acrylic sheets designed by them.
We were eager to see what went into making such unique items, so we planned a visit to their workshop and showroom. Upon arriving, we instantly fell in love with the creativity that went into everything they made.
While touring the space, we got to see their expansive inventory and variety of different acrylic designs. Most importantly, we got to witness how they worked with the acrylic. This kind of work requires much detail and love of the craft. The culture of TOKYO ACRYL is a wonderful reflection of the Japanese culture, which is one of harmony, consideration, and great passion.
As Tivoli Audio has always had much consideration and passion for building products that bring harmony between music and design, we were inspired to collaborate with TOKYO ACRYL.
We came up with the idea to create removable cabinets for our Model One BT’s, which we thought would be a great way to showcase the creative work of TOKYO ACRYL as well. The result are 20 limited-edition cabinets, which have been intentionally paired with specific Model One BT’s. Each piece is handmade and truly one-of-one.
