Layered deep in history, the land of Los Poblanos was initially inhabited by the Ancestral Puebloans in the 14th century and became part of the Elena Gallegos land grant around 1716. It was then built up as a ranch and dairy farm in the 1930s and renovated by John Gaw Meem, the "Father of Santa Fe Style” who transformed it into the architectural spectacle it is today. It didn’t become an inn until the late nineties when Penny and Armin Rembe, who raised their four children in the classic courtyard adobe house, where guests now check in, bought the building next door, known as La Quinta, which was under threat of  being remodeled and having the land developed. Built originally as a cultural center in 1934, they wanted to preserve La Quinta and maintain the important history it held. Throughout its growth, Los Poblanos has upheld restoring and preserving the history of the farm which can be seen around every corner and makes for a stay like no other.

While Los Poblanos Inn provides an exceptional stay no matter the season, there’s just something special about staying there for Fall on the farm. In October, they celebrate this abundant season with an immersive Harvest Dinner on the Farm where you can help harvest seasonal ingredients, meet with the resident beekeeper, and join guests for a true farm-to-table family-style dinner. But if you miss the Harvest Dinner, don’t fret — you can also taste the season with their fall menu at Afternoon Tea and pick up treats from the Farm Shop to bring a piece home with you. And with scenic bike tours, six acres of formal gardens, daily classes in the Wellness Yurt, a myriad of wildlife, the La Quinta Library Bar, and the La Quinta Gallery, there is never a shortage of things to do or admire.

Just like their extraordinary farm, Los Poblanos rooms don’t fall short of expectations and each historic room has something special and unique to offer. When staying, you’ll have a choice between their three room locations — Meem, Farm, or Field. The Meem Rooms are located in the historic and renovated building designed by John Gaw Meem. In addition to these rooms featuring architectural details including 1930s revival tin light fixtures and hand-carved beams, each has a wood-burning fireplaces that can be lit from October to April. The Farm Rooms also include wood-burning fireplaces and are inspired by Los Poblanos’s 1930s historic dairy buildings with pitched tin roofs and white stucco. These rooms also have incredible views of the gardens, acequias, and the lotus pond. While the Field Rooms don’t include a fireplace, they feature stunning views of lavender fields and the mountains allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the agricultural experience of Los Poblanos.

No matter what room you stay in, they all offer luxury linens and robes, custom-crafted furnishings, and our Model Three BTs — everything needed to slow down and relax from our often too busy lives. There’s nothing like sitting in front of the seasonal wood fireplace in your room, enjoying a treat from their complimentary s’more kit, as you listen to your favorite music and unwind from a day exploring the farm.
