The Columns has long been a landmark in New Orleans, known by its name and not its address. Originally built as a private residence, it has served many purposes through time, including a boarding house during World War I. In 1953 it was turned into a hotel and bar and has since gone through many transformations. Meticulously restored in 2019, this 20-room hotel is the perfect stay right on the Mardi Gras parade route.
During the restoration, much of the original character was kept — sweeping porches, a southern-gothic feel, ornate wallpaper, and mahogany wood — but subtle updates throughout the building have made the space more comfortable for the modern traveler. Our Model Three BT radios are set in every guest room, fitting in perfectly with Columns' timeless intimate style. It makes waking up in time for Mardi Gras celebrations a breeze and is the perfect escape with its warm music after a long day. With each suite adorned with a clawfoot tub, you can relax in southern sophistication with your favorite playlist.
This four-star New Orleans retreat is an absolute oasis when one needs a break from the Mardi Gras festivities. Sip on a Sazerac in the beautiful gardens onsite that provide a lush escape in the heart of New Orleans or experience a delicious meal in the newly renovated yet intimate restaurant and bar — a favorite of the locals. Experience Columns yourself on your next visit to New Orleans.
